5 Easy Holiday Appetizer Ideas

5 Easy Holiday Appetizer Ideas

Even if you don’t celebrate Christmas, the holiday season can be a busy time of year. With company parties, friends’ parties and other events going on, who has time to think of different appetizers to bring to each event?

Let us make it easy for you.

1. Bruschetta
Not only is bruschetta easy to prepare, it’s usually a favorite among guests as well. All you need are six ingredients. Mix together chopped tomatoes (preferably plum or Roma tomatoes), onion, basil and parsley with olive oil and lemon juice. Put it in a serving bowl surrounded by New York Style® Garlic Parmesan Panetini®, and guests can easily spoon the amount they want onto their Panetini® bread.

2. Tomato-Basil Skewers
These fun and festive skewers are easy to make. Simply place small chunks of mozzarella cheese, cherry tomatoes and basil on each skewer, alternating the order of each placement. You can change this recipe slightly and opt to replace the basil with green pepper squares.

3. Hummus, Pita Chips and Sliced Veggies
Hummus never goes out of style. Go with natural hummus or choose a flavored hummus like Roasted Red Pepper to add a bit more festive color. Surround your hummus with pita chips and veggies, such as sliced carrots, green and red peppers, cucumbers and any veggie of your choice. Keep in mind too, if you don’t have time for slicing, many grocery stores offer pre-sliced carrots, peppers and other vegetables now.

4. New York Style Christmas Wreaths
Start with our bagel crisps and then top them with some green. The green can be pesto, spinach and artichoke dip, homemade olive tapenade, or spread hummus on each crisp and top with diced red and green peppers. You can get creative with this one—think of all the green vegetables and other items you can mash up and use for this super-festive treat!

5. Mini Quiche Treats
Use a muffin pan or mini-muffin pan to bake these delicious appetizers. Coat the pan cups with non-stick cooking spray. Whisk together 4 large eggs, 4 egg whites, ¼ cup skim or low-fat milk and salt and pepper, to taste. Once combined, stir in the shredded cheese of your choice (1/3 cup grated Fontina or Parmesan cheese). Pour the mixture into each cup and then add your favorite toppings. In light of the holiday season, add red and green items like diced peppers and tomatoes on top of each quiche mixture. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until the quiches have risen and are set and golden brown.
