Open A Bag of New York Style® Snacks to Celebrate National Garlic Day on April 19

Westchester, Ill. (April 16, 2009) – Garlic has been used for ages to remedy a wide range of problems – getting rid of vampires, repelling mosquitoes, improving heart health and enhancing passion to name a few. While the benefits of garlic are many, snack-maker New York Style® knows that the reason this amazing bulb is loved is because of its delicious flavor. Snack lovers agree -- more bags of garlic-seasoned New York Style Bagel Crisps® are purchased each year than any other New York Style snack.

As America celebrates National Garlic Day on April 19, New York Style -- America’s number one deli snack line -- invites garlic lovers to satiate their garlic cravings with one of New York Style’s garlic recipe snacks, including Roasted Garlic Bagel Crisps®, Roasted Garlic and Herb Focaccia Sticks™, Sesame Garlic Crispini®, Garlic Pita Chips, Garlic Panetini® and Garlic Parmesan Panetini®.

“New York Style is celebrating National Garlic Day in honor of all snackers who love the taste of our snacks seasoned with garlic,” said Cindy Nagle, director of marketing for the New York Style brand. “We know that nothing goes better with the delicious flavor of garlic than the twice-baked crunch of New York Style snacks.”

In fact, the number of garlic-seasoned New York Style snacks enjoyed by North Americans each year proves just how popular garlic is. According to New York Style sales data:

  • If New York Style stretched all of the bags of Roasted Garlic Bagel Crisps that are eaten in a year from end to end they could span the distance between the Empire State Building in New York to the Sears Tower in Chicago
  • North Americans eat more than 5.2 million pounds of garlic-seasoned New York Style snacks each year
  • North American snackers buy nearly 12 million packages of garlic-seasoned New York Style snacks in their deli sections each year
  • New York Style’s Roasted Garlic Bagel Crisps are more popular than any other New York Style snack
